DRUG HELP

If you or someone you know is involved with drugs and needs help there are many places to turn to. If you feel you cannot help them directly, or they do not want your help, you can help point them in the right direction. Sometimes people do not want to admit they have a problem and an intervention may be necessary to show the person they have a problem and people who love and care about them want to make them get over it.

Your parents are usually a good place to start when you think it is time to get help to stay away from drugs. Turning to your parents can be tough for a number of reasons, especially if they are unaware of your drug history. One important thing to remember is that friends may come and go, but your parents are your parents forever. You may want to deal with the repercussions of your parents finding out if it will eventually help you, because, after all, your parents always want what's best for you.

If turning to your parents is something you just cannot do, for whatever reason, you may want to try talking with your friends, your friends' parents, or schoolteachers or guidance counselors perhaps. If any of these people truly care about you they will offer you help whenever possible and refrain from judging you. This can be an important factor in getting help and recovering from your problems.

If you're just too embarrassed or feel uncomfortable discussing your drug use with family or friends there are many local alcohol and drug chat lines, many of which are 24-hour, that you could call if you need advice or help refraining from using drugs. These can be easily found in your telephone book or by searching the Internet. Since these people are trained to deal with people in your shoes they can make the whole process easier and more effective for you. Many times people who use drugs are just crying out for help and having a friend to talk to can keep them off of drugs and possibly save their life.

If these choices were not enough for you, considering professional help would be a good idea. There are many drug rehabilitation centers to choose from depending on your needs and this may be the best route for you on your road to recovery.
